Hey there friends!!!

Well, I've decided to take my business K-squared in a different direction!

I don't think I've shared with you all, that I am a business owner! I make modest clothing for your sweet little lady!

I started this for my girls, I would see so many boutique style clothing that I loved, but couldn't make myself pay the price for them!!! So I decided to learn how to sew and do it myself! And that's exactly what I've done!!!

I then decided that I wanted to share my designs with the public. So I started doing custom orders, which was terrible for me!! I hated it, the stress! Ugh...well after thinking about it quite a bit, I've decided to do only ready to sell items! I think this will relieve a lot of stress!! So each week, I will choose a design and work on it throughout the week in different sizes! I'll see how it goes from there!!

Have a blessed day!

Sewing for my girlies!

Hi friends!
Just checking in, I haven't been feeling well at all this week but I had some time to sew a few things for my girlies! I still have some stuff cut out that I need to sew, not sure if I'll get to it this week though! Anyway...here's some pics!

I just realized that I don't have a pic of the dress I made for my littlest! :) I will post that later today!

Quiet Saturday morning...

Hi friends!

I absolutely love quiet mornings with my fam. Everyone's snoozing and mommy is planning the day!

I've been slacking lately, so much to get done. I plan to start on my girls thanksgiving outfits today ( should have done this a long time ago!) and maybe make a few more things for myself too! I see a trip to the fabric store in the plans today!!!

Enjoy your day...

**Refashion**The big ole' frumpy wrap dress and the not so cute cardi...

Happy Thursday lovelies! :)

Well, today has been a day full of creating, refashioning, sewing, and playing around with my kids and now I'M BEAT!

I truly believe that being a stay at home mom is more work than being a working mom! At the end of the day I want to curl up with a good book and a blanket until I fall asleep (then get more smoochies from my baby girls and the hubby)! I'm so thankful for my hubby, he puts the kids to sleep!

Anyhooooooooooo....finally, I'm ready to post a refashion tutorial!!! Yay! This makes me happy....there's nothing better than finding clothes in your closet that you don't wear anymore and making something really cute and fun out of them!!!!

So here goes...please bear with me, the photos are terrible, we don't have a lot of space or cute places outside for a photo shoot! On top of that I have to wait for the hubby to get home for pics and ummmmm, its cold outside, hopefully my tripod arrives soon!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So my sis in love, gave me a wrap dress that was HUGE on me, but I knew it had potenial...I love the color and thought I could make something really cute out of it.  I really love the wrap skirts like this one but to be honest, I really didn't want to buy or add another pattern to my stash so I did this...

 Start off with your dress!
  1. Take your big ole' frumpy dress and cut the skirt portion off, you can sew the top down or leave it as is ( I did)---lazy :) It has elastic so its perfect, you don't have to fool with adding elastic! Yay!
  2. Your's should look something like this...hang on to the top part, were going to do something cute with that later. ;o)
  3. Make alterations to the skirt portion here if needed.  I needed to take in about an inch on each side, I used a ruler and tailor's chalk to mark it.

  1. Sew a seam down the side,be sure to stretch your fabric on the sides and make sure that your fabric is not ...trim excess fabric or leave it if its not that much.
  2. **Optional** The slit on my dress opened from top to bottom and I don't like that, so I sewed it shut all the way down, just follow the stitching that's already there.
  3. And THAT'S IT!!! You have a very easy, peasy wrap skirt! Now go find a dress that you don't wear anymore and make one!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ON TO OUR CARDIGAN!

I bought this cardigan when I was pregnant with my youngest, I bought an XL and it was huge on! I couldn't seem to get rid of it, I love the print, so I did a little reconstructing...here goes!

Taking in your cardi....
  1. Try your cardi on and decide how much you want to take in on each side...Turn your cardi inside out and lay it flat...pin the amount you want to get rid of, do this to both sides.  Make sure your pinning around the curve from the end of the sleeve all the way around to the bottom of the skirt.
  2. Sew a straight stitch all the way around on both sides.  Once you're done, trim the excess fabric.

On to the sleeves....

  1.  Try your cardi on again and figure out where you want your sleeves to end...Fold your cardi in half, shoulders touching and sleeves together.  Use tailor's chalk or a fabric pen to mark where you want to cut.
  2. Cut your sleeves, then cut the ends of your sleeves...
  3. Take the ends and pin them to the ends of your new sleeves right sides facing, make sure to line up the raw edges, you don't want to sew the wrong end of the bottom of the sleeve... ( hope that makes sense :))
  4. Sew the bottoms of your sleeves on with  about a 1/4 seam allowance, you can serge the ends or leave them and iron them down, they will stretch once you put it on.

That's it, now wear your cute outfit!!! Easy, Peasy HUH!!!

***Oh and, I told you we would do something cute with the top of the dress right.... well I made a cute infinity scarf! Really easy, just sew the armholes shut and the ends, place the ends together and make a big circle, wrap it around your neck a couple of times, and that's it, a complete outfit from an ole' frumpy wrap dress and a not so cute cardi!!!***

Here's some pics...

Me and My hair...a love/hate relationship...

Hey there...well, I decided to blog about my natural hair journey here as well. Let me just say, this journey is tough!

I've been relaxer free for 6 months now and everyday is so different! I'm still in that buy a new product every week phase! Yep, half of them do NOTHING for my hair! It's very tough when there are two different textures of hair, meaning half relaxed and half natural! I'm still trying to figure out what works for each one! I decided to go natural back at the beginning of the year...I had terrible experiences with my hair caused by epidurals with both of my girls! After my first, all of my edges came out and after my second my edges came out and on top of that I woke up one morning, rubbed my hands through my hair and it started coming out in clumps and the hair in the middle of my head was completely matted!:/ Terrible experiences!!

Anyway, after all of that I could only get the outside of my hair to relax but the middle never would!!! So I gave up...NO MORE CHEMICALS FOR ME or my babies! We're all natural around here, not to mention, my hubby loves natural hair, he's always wanted me to go natural...;)

Needless to say, the complete middle part of my hair is natural from roots to end, and I still have relaxed on the outsides...ugh, I'm loving my natural hue and I'm a little anxious to see the end result. One thing is for sure....this takes patience, patience, patience........Lord help me with that!!!

Here's a pic of my natural curls!!!

REVIEW***B5672 & V8815

As promised...here's the review...

Pattern Description: Combined B5672 & V8815-peplum top and dress ( I made a peplum top)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Well, no because I combined the two.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very...I really didn't have to follow the instructions...

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? very easy, no dislikes

Fabric Used: ponte roma knit

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I combined the top of  B5672 with the bottom of V8815 (the peplum top) actually I cut the peplum on the fold and added about 3 inches to each one and gathered it a bit.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, and Yes

Conclusion: Love it, can't wait to make more!

V8815 & B5672 **combined***

Hi there peeps!!!

So, I had the chance to finish the project I told you about last week...I wanted to make a peplum top using Vogue Pattern 8815 and Butterick Pattern 5672 as seen HERE....(of course her's is 10x better) Mimi G is amazing, and I have to admit, I have been stalking her blog for a while!!! ;o)

***Please beware...these pics are terrible! My hubby had to take them and we would have done them outside but he got home too late, we don't have much space inside to take them and were still working on figuring out the new camera :(  And my hair looks terrible, its hair wash night! Forgive me!***

Here's a few pics...I plan to do a review on them tonight and I will share that with you as well!!!

All laid out...pattern pieces were pretty easy to figure out, I really didn't even have to use the directions...

I love the slanted boatneck detail and the bit of gathering on the side!

My skirt is terribly wrinkled!!

Stay tuned for the review!

Have a great rest of the night....

A good bargain!!!

So, yes, I am el'cheapooooo~

I love a good deal, and I am normally the shopper that walks right past all of the "regular priced stuff" to get to the clearance rack!  The cheaper the better!!!

I have started making the majority of my clothes and I plan to get to the point where I make all of my clothes and my kid's clothes!!! I love it, I love to put my own spin on it!!! With that being said, I'm not talented enough to make my own shoes!!! Lol- so I buy them...for cheap! ;)

Anyway....I found the black friday preview ad and welll....ummmm...they had a mix up with the effective dates, and good for me I found my dream camera!!! WOOHOOO!!! Yes it was cheap and my hubby will be so happy when he sees it!!! It is the Nikon L310 and I'm loving it!!!  Along with that I found some reallllyyyy cute snakeskin shoes for very cheap!  Here's a pic!!!

Week of Sewing............

Well...hello there! I am very excited about taking some much needed time to catch up on sewing! I have quite a few projects to work on this week for me and the girlies!!!

I plan to work on an updated version of the very cute peplum top ( they are the lateeeeeessssttt craze!!!)  I have made a few and I haven't been crazy about the way they turned out so I've decided to tweak them with these two patterns here and here.  I've seen quite a few fashionistas's combine these two and they've turned out lovely! So maybe, I will get the result I'm looking for! :)

I will be doing pattern testing for my girlies...can't tell you details yet, but I will post pics as soon as I'm done!!!

Have a wonderful night and a blessed weekend!
